A hackathon is usually a codefest or a coding competition where software programmers, developers, designers, etc. come together to build and design something cool. Almost all hackathons are free of cost. Until now, I haven’t heard of any that charge registration fees.

Why Hackathons?

There's no better way to learn new technical skills than by participating in a hackathon. It's a great opportunity to brush up on your technical knowledge or get started with the basics if you've never done anything technical before. You'll also get support along the way to help you pick up these skills even faster.

Some other reasons to participate in Hackathons are

  • help you meet new people

  • help you grow out of your comfort zone

  • win prizes and swags

  • intense networking and availability of career opportunities

Formula for Winning a Hackathon

Actually, there is no such formula to win a hackathon. To win any hackathon, you need a good idea with a well thought out value proposition.

For winning a hackathon you should have some key skills.

  • Coding skills

  • Creativity

  • Presentation skills

  • Teamwork

Acing a Hackathon

Go Prepared, Your project and idea for Hackathon should be unique and challenging. This can be your big hit in Hackathons. Your project should solve a real-time problem.

As much as the idea is important, your UX/UI should also be eye-catching. It all comes that how well you have designed your project and how well you can present it in front of judges and mentors.

You get some chance to get started with some new technology or tech stacks and if you get stuck with something, mentors were present there to help you with it.

Also😋, your winning chances get higher by using your sponsor track in your project.
